High Abrasion Wear Resistance ETFE Anticorrosive Clear Tube
ETFE is a fluoropolymer that is chemically and structurally similar to polyolefins such as polyethylene, thus providing a higher abrasion, impact, and crush resistance than its fully fluorinated (perfluoropolymer) counterparts -PTFE, FEP, and PFA.
ETFE tubing is commonly used in wiring harnesses, in exterior film applications where weathering resistance is desirable, and as a liner in tanks where specific chemical and wear resistance is required. Its high tensile strength at 25 C also leads to a higher working pressure at that temperature.
ETFE Tubing Offers:
● High abrasion and wear resistance while maintaining chemical inertness
● Higher tensile strength and working pressure than PTFE, FEP, PFA at 25 degrees Celsius
● More limited chemical resistance than PTFE, FEP and PFA
● Great for mechanical, electrical, architectural, and aerospace applications
● Maximum use temperature of 300 F (~150 C)
● Natural ETFE is semi-transparent
ETFE Tubing Applications:
Aerospace &Transportation Technology, Electronics, Components & Insulators, Chemical & Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Food Processing, Environmental Sciences, Air Sampling, Fluid Transfer Devices and Water Processing Systems.

Aerospace: ETFE is used to extrude convoluted tubing that serves as a flexible conduit to protect wires, cables and fiber optics from abrasion due to its mechanical integrity, which meets 81914 Mil Spec certification. The resin can be utilized in tubing form for fluid transfer applications that require excellent chemical, abrasion and radiation resistance. ETFE is non-flammable and resilient in a wide range of temperatures, ranging from low temperatures to 300ºF (148ºC).
Automotive: ETFE is excellent for wire harness insulation due to its dielectric strength. It is also highly lubricious, providing dry lubrication solutions for a variety of applications which may also require abrasion resistance. The resin can withstand wide temperature variances with a working temperature range of up to 300ºF (148ºC). ETFE is chemically resistant for critical fluid transfer, possesses UV resistance and can be produced in a variety of shapes and customized options.
Critical Fluid Transfer: The chemical resistance, mechanical integrity and abrasion resistance of ETFE are ideal for critical fluid transfer. It can handle a wide range of acids, bases and solvents. The tubing can be formed into unique shapes post-extrusion for maximum flexibility in design requirements.
Electrical: ETFE provides durable electrical insulation (Dielectric Strength: 1800 volts/mil) as well as chemical resistance. These attributes serve it well in multiple extruded forms at high continuous service temperatures up to 300ºF (148ºC).
Fiber Optics: Our ETFE Convoluted Tubing (Mil Spec 81914) often houses and protects delicate fibers as it is very abrasion resistant. ETFE provides a durable jacketing material that easily slides over fiber optics without causing damaging. The material is UV and chemically resistant while having the ability to operate in a variety of extremes temperatures up to 300ºF (148ºC). ETFE can be chemically etched to offer accelerated bonding ability. This material can also be formed into shapes and multi-lumens, allowing multiple channels of fibers to be encapsulated in one OD.
General Industrial: ETFE is a highly lubricous fluoropolymer, positioning it as an ideal material for analytical and chemical transfer applciations. ETFE has a unique combination of characteristics that allow it to be manufactured in long continuous lengths. This is ideal for air sampling technologies that need tubing to support their instrumentation and won’t degrade when exposed to caustic chemicals.
Oil & Gas: ETFE has excellent heat resistance and mechanical integrity at working temperatures of up to 300ºF (148ºC). The material is also a good insulator when utilized as wire insulation or a splicing aid, providing added abrasion resistance. The material also can be made into a heat shrinkable form for specialized applications.
Medical: ETFE may be sterilized using gamma, EtO, e-beam, or autoclave sterilization which makes it a versatile material in medical applications. ETFE can be manufactured in a variety of extruded products including custom sizes, profiles, and multi-lumens.
In addition, ETFE can be sourced with flares, flanges, draw downs, drilled holes, or a combination of more than one Optimized Tubing Solution.
